Global Tolerance Communications

Global Tolerance (gt) is an award-winning communications agency – founded by the brilliant and innovative Simon Cohen – that is committed to media ethics, positive social change, and the promotion of stories and media campaigns that have  integrity and substance.

As a freelance PR consultant, I worked for gt across various campaigns over a period of five years; Tole-rants is an ongoing social media initiative which I helped to launch, and I successfully lobbied to get the term ‘tole-rant’ recognised as a Macmillan Dictionary Buzzword (‘tole-rant: A brief speech about a social problem that suggests a potential solution, usually taking the form of a very short web-based video’). I also promoted Karen Armstrong’s Charter for Compassion, Coexist and Gallup’s ‘Poll of the Muslim World’ and gt’s Jedi Knights campaign which challenged cultural attitudes to tolerance, diversity and identity; I persuaded the United Nations Association (UNA) to feature gt’s Interstellar Day of Tolerance  on the front cover of its magazine, galvanised the support of  ‘Jedi knights’ in the US and reported on the campaign (as an freelance journalist) for ‘State of Belief’ on Air America radio.
